Ranges Rally explodes into 11th year
North Wales Car Club is calling for entries for the Porthmadog Autobodys Ranges Stages on the 17th June at the Trawsfynydd Ranges Motorsport Centre.
The event now in its 11th year will be a round of the Association of North Western Car Clubs (ANWCC) Stage Rally Championship, the Glynne Memorial Championship and the opening round of the Trawsfynydd Rally Challenge.
Competitors will tackle 14 stages over a total of 20 competitive miles on tarmac surfacing with plenty of challenges facing the crews on fast, undulating roads with blind crests, formerly used as part of the military complex.
One crew looking forward to the event is the brother and sister pairing of Chris Phillips of Llandudno and Sarah Hughes of Mochdre who will be competing in their ex cup 1600 cc Peugeot Gti with Hughes saying “I love the venue and the rallies here are enjoyable. The speed and terrain makes it exciting and terrifying at the same time!”
Phillips and Hughes, both members of Bala and District Motor Club, took the Driver and Co-driver titles in the ANWCC Trawsfynydd Rally Challenge in 2011 and are itching to get cracking at the 2012 title.
The entry fee for this popular single venue event is just £140 and crews are urged to get their entry in early to avoid disappointment. The closing date for entries is the 11th June and the regulations and entry forms are now online.
