NWCC members dominate 2016 BRC
Posted on March 14, 2016
A number of NWCC members were out competing. Tom Cave and James Morgan were out in the Fiesta R5 and finished 3rd overall, only 1.26.8m behind WRC2 driver Elfyn Evans in the B1 class. Hugh Hunter and Andy Marchbank experienced some software issues with their Fiesta R5 on the opening two stages but they still managed to finish an impressive 15th overall and 10th in class.
Local driver Matt Edwards made a very impressive charge in his 'giant killer' Evo 9, finishing in an impressive 7th overall with the more powerful R5 cars behind him. To add to his outstanding result, Edwards self-built his own car in an impressive 4 weeks, proving that sometimes you don't always need large funds, just self believe, hard work and the ability to ‘pedal’!
Unfortunately, club members Lee Hastings and Julie McGuire rolled their Subaru Impreza on SS5. Glad to hear that both crew were uninjured.
BBC Top Gear presenter Chris Harris retired on stage one with electrical problems in BRC 3 while in BRC4 there was a close battle between Tony Simpson and Roger Platt on stage one before Simpson edged clear on the second to out a sizable gap between them.
The next BRC round is Circuit of Ireland taking place on the 8-9th April.
